This
piece incorporates the mirrored Arabic
script of a line of devotional poetry by
the Sufi mystic Ibn Arabi (1165-1240 AD):
"My Heart has become capable of
(literally: a mould for) every form"
(Arabic: laqad sara qalby qabilan kulla
soratin")
Like the humble caterpillar that
must be transformed into a beautiful
butterfly, so the human soul
must undergo countless metamorphoses in
order to contain the infinitely fluid
form of the Divine.
Original silhouette paper-cut: £80.
Prints also available. Please contact me for further
